The percentage of surveys returned was consistent to the precentage of voters who have voted in past elections. Of the 2072 surveys mailed, 978 (47.2%) were returned. Of the 978 surveys returned, 805 (82.3%) were in favor of a mail only election, 194 (16.7%) were opposed and 9 (0.1%) had no preference.

Comments received in favor were: great idea, convenient, viable way for rural and elderly.
Comments opposed were: already have absentee voting, opportunity for fraud, US post office not relieable - mail can get lost, tradition going to town to vote, people pressuring others to vote a certain way, too impersonal, chance for everyone to see how you voted, should we trust our elected officials.

Stanton County is considering applying to the Secretary of State's office for approval of Mail Only Election in precincts located in the rural areas of the county.
